adidas Green Samba
Green hasn't always been a staple color for the Samba. It's a color that arrived in waves, first through premium collaborations, then in the main catalog as the silhouette gained popularity. The adidas Green Samba now comes in several forms: collegiate green stripes on a white base, an entirely green upper with sail accents, or collaborative versions in cream and green leather crafted by Wales Bonner. Each interpretation has its own logic. Find currently available pairs among all our in-stock sneakers, shipped from our French stores within 24 to 48 hours.
Green on the Samba: from the football pitch to premium collaborations
The adidas Samba was born in 1950 for football as a work shoe, designed for grip on ice before being adopted by British terraces in the 1970s, then by global streetwear in the 2020s. Green is part of its original colors in an almost literal sense: it's the color of the pitches it was designed to play on.
The most striking modern green versions arrived via Grace Wales Bonner. Her Samba Cream Green collaboration (GY4344) with cream leather and green touches, braided laces, and embroidered branding set the stage for a refined green on an inherently understated silhouette. Adidas then integrated green into its main catalog with two distinct approaches in spring 2024: the full-tone Samba OG Collegiate Green (IE0872), with an entirely green upper and mudguard, off-white stripes, and gold Samba branding on the side, and the green stripes on a white base version (IE3437), more classic in its background/accent ratio. Both were released in January-March 2024 and met with sustained demand.
Construction and details of the adidas Green Samba
The construction remains that of the Samba OG across all versions: a low-cut upper in leather or suede depending on the edition, characteristic leather T-toe on the forefoot, serrated three stripes on the sides, textile lining, and a natural rubber midsole. What varies on the green variations is the distribution of the hue. On the full-tone version (IE0872), green covers the upper and suede mudguard; the matte depth of the dark green suede gives a very different result from smooth leather in the same shade. The stripes are off-white sail, and the Samba branding is gold on the side panel. On the green accent version (IE3437), the base remains white leather with neutral suede overlays; only the stripes and heel tab are collegiate green, resulting in a more graphic and contrasted look.
How to wear the adidas Green Samba
The full-tone green version calls for a simple outfit. Raw indigo jeans, khaki cargo pants, or earth-toned chinos—all natural materials work. A white or cream t-shirt, a canvas jacket, or a work jacket in a neutral tone. The shoe is the only assertive color point: no need for competition. For the versions with green stripes on white, the logic is reversed: the white base of the shoe creates lightness and allows for pairing with more colorful pieces—a forest green sweatshirt, a blended wool top—without the ensemble looking overloaded.
Regarding sizing, the Samba runs small. The enveloping construction of the upper and the tight T-toe give a feeling of a snug shoe on initial wear. Taking half a size up from your usual size is the most common practice. Suede softens slightly over time, leather a little slower.

What green colorways are available on the adidas Samba?
Two main approaches in the recent catalog: the full-tone Samba OG Collegiate Green (IE0872), with an entirely green upper and mudguard and off-white stripes, released in January 2024; and the collegiate green stripes on a white base version (IE3437), released in March 2024. There are also collaborative versions, notably the Wales Bonner Samba Cream Green (GY4344) in cream and green leather, which is rarer and more expensive. Availability varies with restocks; some colorways return regularly, others do not.
Does the adidas Green Samba run large or small?
The Samba OG runs small; taking half a size up from your usual size is the most common advice. The enveloping upper and the not-so-generous T-toe give a snug feeling on initial wear. Leather and suede gradually soften. If you hesitate between two sizes, take the larger one.
What is the difference between the full-tone Samba OG Collegiate Green and the green stripes version?
These are two visually very different propositions despite the same silhouette. The full-tone Collegiate Green (IE0872) is an entirely green shoe—upper, mudguard, outsole—with off-white sail stripes and gold branding. The result is monochrome, assertive, akin to a vintage sportswear item. The green stripes version (IE3437) maintains a white base with neutral suede overlays, and only the stripes and heel tab are dark green. It's more contrasted, more "classic sneaker" in its appearance.
How to care for an adidas Green Samba in suede or leather?
For green suede versions, apply a waterproofing spray before first wear—dark suede stains easily with water, and light marks are very visible. Use a suede brush for light dirt, a special eraser for stains. For green leather versions, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient for routine maintenance, followed by a colorless nourishing cream to maintain the suppleness and shine of the upper. Avoid tinted products that could slightly alter the shade of green.
