Jordan Brand a sorti cette version grade school en mars 2022 avec une intention claire : donner aux enfants un colorway qui n'existe pas dans le catalogue adulte, construit sur les codes visuels de l'Air Jordan 3 mais avec une palette qui joue franc jeu. Le noir tient toute la tige en cuir lisse. Les imprimés éléphant du toe box et du talon, ceux-là même qui ont fait la réputation graphique du modèle depuis 1988. L'orange Team court sur les oeillets, la doublure et les logos Jumpman. L'outsole en caoutchouc marbré orange et blanc ferme l'ensemble avec ce niveau de détail qu'on n'attendrait pas forcément sur une GS.
La Air Jordan 3 a été dessinée par Tinker Hatfield directement avec Michael Jordan, première silhouette de la ligne à intégrer une Air visible au talon et un Jumpman en remplacement du Wings logo. Ces deux éléments sont présents sur la Kumquat. Jordan Brand n'a pas rogné sur la construction pour adapter le modèle aux grades school. La paire a ses propres droits, son propre statut.
