New Balance 740 White
The white New Balance 740 is one of those pairs that doesn't need to do too much. A running silhouette born in the 2000s, re-released by New Balance in October 2024, the 740 quickly found a place in the rotation of retro runner enthusiasts. In white, it plays the versatility card: a clear base, silver reflections on the overlays, and that Y2K look that works with just about anything. On this page, you'll find the white variations of the 740 available at The Last Step, all authenticated before shipping. To see the model in its entirety, the New Balance 740 page gathers all colorways.
Why choose the white New Balance 740
A question to ask yourself before buying a trendy pair: will I still wear it in two years? With a white colorway, the answer is almost always yes.
The white on the 740 highlights what makes the model charming: the play of textures between the open mesh and synthetic overlays. Where a bright color draws the eye to the color, white lets the construction speak. It's also the easiest colorway to integrate into an existing wardrobe, from a confident sports look to a more dressed-up outfit.
The 740, a piece of New Balance running history
When it was released in the 2000s, the 740 was a running shoe appreciated for its comfort and reliability on the pavement. Not a star model, rather a connoisseur's choice. It's precisely this somewhat confidential status that motivated its re-release in autumn 2024, in line with the success of the brand's retro silhouettes.
The current version remains true to the original design: open mesh upper, synthetic overlays, quick lacing, and segmented midsole. The main change is hidden underfoot, with a full-length ABZORB sole replacing the N-ergy heel technology. In concrete terms? More homogeneous cushioning, designed for daily use rather than running. The 740 thus joins the other flagship silhouettes of our New Balance collection, alongside the 9060 or the 530.
How to wear the white New Balance 740: size and style
The 740 fits true to size: go for your usual New Balance size. The quick lacing makes it easy to put on, and the flexible mesh adapts well to wide feet.
As for outfits, white opens all doors:
- Baggy jeans and an oversized t-shirt for the most direct Y2K look, with white high socks that extend the line
- Grey or black cargo pants with a hoodie, when you want contrast without color
- Shorts and a cap in summer, the white pair brings the necessary freshness
A small maintenance tip: on a white mesh pair, regular gentle cleaning (soft brush and soapy water) significantly extends the lifespan of the color.
