Nike Dunk Blue
The blue Nike Dunk is arguably the most faithful to the original spirit of the model. When Nike launched the Dunk in 1985 for American university teams, blue largely dominated campus colors, and it has never left the range since. It is also the widest family of colorways: between a deep navy blue, a frank royal blue, and a pastel sky blue, we are not talking about the same pair at all. The Last Step brings together a selection of blue Nike Dunks authenticated before shipping, in sizes often hard to find elsewhere, with delivery in 24/48 hours and in-store pickup in Toulouse, Biarritz, and Montpellier.
Kentucky, 1985, and the color of campuses
The "Be True to Your School" program launched by Nikeis based on a simple idea: twelve pairs, twelve universities, each in its official colors. Kentucky inherited an instantly recognizable blue and white, one of the most widely adopted combinations throughout the model's history.
It's no coincidence that blue appears so often. A large proportion of American universities have it in their visual identity, and the Dunk was designed to adhere to these codes. The model then moved from the court to skateboarding in the early 2000s, then to everyday wear after 2020, but blue and white remains the combination that most directly refers to the starting point of 1985.
Low or High: what blue changes depending on the cut
The Dunk has existed in low and high versions since its beginnings, and the color does not produce the same effect on both. On a Low, blue is distributed over short, cut-out surfaces, which gives a graphic, almost sporty look. On a High, the high-top offers much more surface: a navy blue appears sober and structured, while a bright blue becomes much more prominent.
The padded collar of the high-top version adds another parameter. It creates a second level of contrast with the white of the lining or overlay, a detail that stands out when the color is bold. If you are hesitant, the rule is rather simple: the more saturated the blue, the easier the low cut makes it to wear.
Size, fit, and pairings for your blue Nike Dunk
No surprise on the fit, identical to all colorways of the model. The Dunk fits true to size; take your usual size and go up half a size if you have wide feet or a high instep.
The real trap with blue is denim. A royal blue pair with medium blue jeans creates a soft match, neither coordinated nor contrasting. Two solutions: either you create a gap with very light or very dark denim, or you opt for neutral pants. Beige cargo pants, gray chinos, or black jeans highlight the color much better. Navy blue, on the other hand, acts as a neutral and accepts almost anything, including a total dark look. For a sportier look, shorts, white high socks, and a gray hoodie remain a safe bet.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Nike Dunk Blue
Is blue one of the original Dunk colorways?
Yes. The Kentucky version, blue and white, was among the twelve collegiate colorways launched with the model in 1985.
Does the Nike Dunk blue fit true to size?
It fits true to size, like the rest of the range. Stick to your usual size, half a size up for wide feet.
Can you wear a blue Dunk with blue jeans?
Yes, provided you create a shade difference. Very light or very dark denim works, a medium blue close to that of the sneaker gives a bland look.
Which shade of blue should you choose for a first pair?
Navy blue acts as a neutral and blends into almost any outfit. Bright blues require a more subdued outfit around them to stand out well.
