Adidas BW Army "Core Black" is the most radical version of the BW Army: all black, from the leather to the sole and the laces. BW stands for Bundeswehr. The BW Army is descended from the indoor training shoe provided to West German army recruits in the 70s and 80s.
Before adidas reissued it under its own name, this shape was popularized by Maison Margiela with its Replica. Here, we find the same low-top silhouette, the overlay toebox, and the minimalist design without a visible logo. What changes with this colorway is the material: a smooth leather with a glossy, almost patent finish, which gives the pair a dressy look.
It arrived in the SS26 selections of Dover Street Market, END., or Overkill, which speaks volumes about its positioning. An army shoe that has become a fashion shoe, without adding anything. With loose trousers and a dark jacket, it's exactly what you need. The shiny leather is what sets it apart from the suede versions: a dressier, rarer look.
