New Balance 1906L Red Croc closes out 2025 with the boldest iteration yet of the New Balance sneaker-loafer. Released on November 12, 2025, as part of the Croc Pack alongside the Black Croc version, this release pushes the 1906L into openly luxurious and uninhibited territory. Since its relaunch by Charlotte Lee in 2024 and its consecration at the Junya Watanabe MAN show at Paris Fashion Week, the silhouette had not yet dared such a frontal color choice.
The Red Croc colorway is all about material and tint. The construction abandons the technical mesh and the leather-mesh combination of previous versions in favor of an entirely patent leather upper with a deep burgundy crocodile grain, from the base panels to the overlays, including the slip-on strap and the quarter. The TPU cage on the heel adopts a slightly darker red shade to maintain the monochromatic look without falling into flat tone-on-tone. The 1906L logo appears on the heel in a contrasting black finish, while the entirely black outsole anchors the composition to the ground and prevents the burgundy from becoming overpowering.
Underfoot, the technical foundation of the 1906R remains intact: ABZORB SBS cushioning in the heel, a midsole borrowed from the 860v2, comfortable Ortholite insole, and Stability Web for support. The slip-on format replaces the laces without sacrificing support.
A sneaker for those who want a statement piece capable of carrying an outfit on its own, with enough material to make an impression in any context. Wear with black trousers, dark raw denim, or a total chocolate look to exploit the depth of the burgundy croc.
