The New Balance 1906R Ice Blue Melon Water revives the techno-running spirit of the 2000s with a palette that evokes spring. Since the 1906R established itself as a credible alternative to the 2002R, each new colorway becomes an event for New Balance purists. This one is part of the Pastel Pack, a series designed to soften the model's technical DNA without betraying it.
The Ice Blue Melon Water colorway plays on a particularly successful cold-warm contrast. The ice blue mesh base allows light to pass through, covered with synthetic inserts with silver metallic reflections. The melon water touches, that subtle coral pink found on the tongue, eyelets, and sole, awaken the whole. The TPU cage on the heel, the visual signature of the 1906R, retains its characteristic braiding.
Underfoot, the technical gear is intact: ABZORB cushioning in the heel, N-ergy in the midsole, Stability Web for arch support, and Ndurance rubber outsole. New Balance didn't try to simplify the formula to make it lifestyle (and that's a good thing).
