The New Balance 1906R No Sew Pack Black Cement kicked off the No Sew series that marked the second half of 2025. Released on August 21, 2025, before the Dark Olivine version that followed in November, this first iteration immediately set the standard for an ambitious material overhaul of the 1906R. This approach repositions the silhouette in the utility domain, following in the footsteps of the Action Bronson Rosewater collab, which introduced this type of synthetic construction in 2024.
The Black Cement colorway is all about graphic contrast. The No Sew construction replaces the usual leather overlays with a heat-bonded TPU assembly with a deep black grid pattern, placed on a doubled synthetic base rather than breathable mesh. Cement Grey accents punctuate certain sections of the quarter and midfoot, a nod to New Balance's heritage palettes and the Air Jordan 3 aesthetic of the same name. The pull-tab utility lacing system reinforces the technical look, and the outsole features black Ndurance rubber, extending the palette all the way to the ground.
Underfoot, the technical arsenal remains intact: ABZORB SBS cushioning in the heel, ACTEVA LITE midsole, N-ergy system for shock absorption, and Stability Web under the arch. New Balance has not downgraded the mechanics under the pretext of playing the utility card.
A sneaker for those who want a 1906R designed for cooler seasons, capable of withstanding bad weather without capitulating. Wear it with black technical pants, cement grey cargo pants, or dark raw denim to stay in the utility theme, or in contrast with light beige to highlight the graphic grid.
