Nike Air Max Plus VII Black brings back a silhouette that many had forgotten. The Air Max Plus VII was released in 2005, following in the footsteps of the original Tn from 1998; the sneaker press credits it to Sean McDowell, the designer of the first Air Max Plus. Twenty years later, Nike is re-releasing it just as it was, or almost.
The shape and tooling are those of the classic Air Max Plus. The difference lies in the upper: the palm-tree-style waves give way to a textured dot pattern, an embossed grid that completely changes how the shoe is perceived. The mini-Swooshes remain discreet, and the Tn logo is tonal. Everything here is black, from the synthetic upper and mesh panels to the sole, with a hint of anthracite and a micro-touch of yellow and red on the Tn logo.
It’s a Tn for those who love the Air Max Plus family and want a silhouette that is rarer than the '98 model. The comfort remains that of the Tuned Air unit. And in all-black, it goes with just about anything. Released in Europe in November 2025 alongside a few other colorways (Varsity Maize, White Black, Hot Curry), the black version is the one that fits most easily into a rotation.
