Blue On Running
Blue On Running footwear is a transitional color for the Swiss brand: it appears in a specific colorway for a season and then makes way for others. Their catalog is built around off-whites, blacks, and sand tones, with blue appearing only in subtle touches—a grey-blue Tempest on a sole, a navy on a running upper—but rarely as a solid color. This makes these pairs difficult to find once the launch has passed, which is exactly what this collection brings together as new stock arrives. At The Last Step, every blue On Running pair is checked and authenticated before shipping, available in sizes often sold out elsewhere, with 24/48h delivery and pickup options at our boutiques in Toulouse, Biarritz, and Montpellier.
Available blue On Running: Rare colorways by nature
Currently, the collection revolves around the Cloudtilt Ivory Tempest: an ivory upper—the brand's base color—and a Tempest, that stormy grey-blue the brand uses on several models, applied to the sole and details. The Cloudtilt is the slip-on shoe that took the brand off the track and into the city, and in Ivory Tempest, it maintains all its discretion: from a distance, it looks like a light Cloudtilt; up close, the blue appears within the pods. Available sizes are limited and will not be restocked in this colorway.
The rest of the collection evolves with new releases. The Cloud 6, Cloudmonster, and Cloudsurfer frequently feature navy or glacier blue colorways, especially in their running lines, and are added here as soon as a pair comes into stock. If the size you are looking for is not currently listed, the On Cloudtilt collection shows all the variations of the model currently in stock, some of which feature bluish details not categorized here.
Why blue remains subtle at On
On was born in Zurich in 2010. Olivier Bernhard, a former triathlete, wanted a different cushioning sensation and ended up gluing pieces of garden hose under a sole: the idea became CloudTec, those hollow pods that compress on impact and lock for the push-off. In the early years, the palette followed running trends: bright and technical. Then, the arrival of Roger Federer as an investor in 2019 and the collaboration with Loewe starting in 2022 moved the brand toward fashion, and with it, the palette: Pearl, Ice, Ivory, Sand, Eclipse. Neutrals.
In this vocabulary, blue has a special status. On Running almost always uses it in halftones—a Tempest, a Glacier, a Midnight—blues that lean toward grey or black and blend into the sole rather than highlighting it. A bold blue would break the monochromatic look the brand strives for. The result: every blue On is produced in a small series, on one or two models, and disappears without being reissued. It is frustrating to hunt for, and that is precisely what makes it a standout pair in a rotation of white and black Ons.
Sizing, fit, and styling for your blue On Running
On runs true to size with a rather slim fit. Take your usual size for the Cloud 6, Cloudsurfer, and Cloudmonster. The Cloudtilt, which is slipped on without adjustments, fits a bit tight at the instep: many choose a half-size up, especially those with wide feet. References marked (W) follow the women's size grid, which starts at 36; others use unisex sizing.
For styling, a grey-blue like Tempest wears like a cool neutral. Grey or beige cargo pants, an oversized white t-shirt, and white crew socks make the pair fit in effortlessly. With raw denim, the blue of the sole complements the jeans, and the outfit becomes monochromatic without being flat. Black works in contrast: black baggy jeans, a black hoodie, a black cap, and the blue pops. The only thing to avoid is adding a second bright blue, which would overwhelm the shoe's subtle shade.
Ordering your blue On Running from The Last Step

Every pair is checked and authenticated before shipping. Shipping within 24 to 48 hours, free returns from France if the fit isn't right, Click and Collect in Toulouse, Biarritz, and Montpellier to try before you buy, and a customer service team that responds quickly if you're torn between two sizes. Frequently asked questions about blue On Running
What color is "Tempest" at On Running?
It is a stormy, fairly dark grey-blue that the brand uses as an accent on the sole or finishing details rather than as a solid color. Once worn, it reads as a cool grey with a hint of blue.
Why are there so few blue On Running shoes?
Because the brand primarily works with neutrals (ivory, pearl, sand, black) and only releases blue in a few colorways per season, in small quantities, without reissues. The collection is updated as new arrivals come in.
Does the blue On Running fit like other colorways?
Yes, the color does not change the fit. Take your usual size for most models, and a half-size up for the Cloudtilt if you have wide feet or a high instep.
