The Air Jordan 4 Retro Iced Carmine isn't trying to convince skeptics. It's a women's exclusive pair, designed with a specific vision, and it embraces it. The silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1989 remains intact: side mesh panels, wings on the upper, visible Air unit in the heel, a construction that doesn't need to be reinvented to remain relevant. What's new is the fabric.
The Iced Carmine colorway features a pale pink denim upper that drapes the entire shoe in a soft, textured Pearl Pink hue. The suede mudguard matches the same tone, the laces and mesh panels shift to Coconut Milk, and the Muslin midsole sports a vintage yellowed look, a faux-aging trend that has become standard on Jordan releases in recent seasons. The most intricate detail: the support wings and the back tab are made of semi-translucent TPU, which gives the pair the "iced" finish from which it takes its name. The translucent pink outsole completes the picture. Jordan Brand also paid attention to the packaging, with speculative white patterned boxes on a colored background.
