Autry Medalist Low Sneakers in White Leather and Copper Suede combines two materials on a single base. The Medalist Low is the flagship tennis shoe from Autry, a Texan brand founded in 1982 and relaunched in Italy in 2019: a low cut, a padded collar, a white rubber sole and that small embroidered American flag on the side.
On this version, white leather covers most of the upper, while the heel and a few overlays switch to copper-coloured suede. The contrast between smooth leather and velvety suede adds depth to an otherwise very simple pair. According to Autry, the upper is made of 80% leather and 20% suede, with a leather and cotton terry lining and flat cotton laces.
Autry presents the Medalist as a reinterpretation of 1980s tennis shoes with modern finishes. It is a white sneaker for everyday wear, with jeans or chinos, and the copper suede develops a lovely patina over time.
