Saucony Kinvara 1 Daikanyama is the lightest version in the Daikanyama collection. The Kinvara 1 came out in 2010 as a minimalist running shoe: a low drop, a highly breathable mesh upper, a flexible sole. Saucony has reissued it in recent seasons for the street, where its slim line has found a new audience.
The Daikanyama collection is an in-house project, conceived by designer Josh Fraser, a former Tokyo resident, and Brian Moore, product director. The starting point is the Daikanyama neighborhood, which Brian Moore describes through its brutalist architecture softened by ivy on concrete and weathered steel. The pairs in the capsule pick up on this idea with muted tones and textures that already feel lived-in. According to specialist sites, this Kinvara 1 mixes purple, black and grey tones.
Alongside the ProGrid Omni 9, the ProGrid Guide 7 and the Endorphin Speed 5, the Kinvara 1 is the most understated of the series. A pair for those who want a lightweight retro runner with a real story behind it, to wear with straight-leg jeans or technical trousers.
