Saucony ProGrid Guide 7 Daikanyama is part of the Daikanyama collection, a capsule Saucony designed in-house around a Tokyo neighbourhood. The ProGrid Guide 7 is a stability runner from the brand's ProGrid range, with a mesh upper and structuring overlays.
For this collection, designer Josh Fraser, who lived in Tokyo, and Brian Moore, Saucony's product director, drew on the atmosphere of Daikanyama, a neighbourhood of cafés, record shops and small breweries often compared to Brooklyn. Brian Moore describes a rather brutalist architecture, softened by ivy on the concrete and weathered steel. On the shoe, that translates into muted tones and aged textures, as if the pair already had a few miles on it.
The collection also brings together the Kinvara 1, the ProGrid Omni 9 and the Endorphin Speed 5 in the same spirit. This Guide 7 is for those who love retro runners with a bit of extra history, to wear with jeans, wide-leg trousers or sweatpants.
